About Recal Travel

What do we mean when we say “Mindful Adventure Travel?” We believe the best way to combat the effects of burnout is to experience a guided, retreat-style trip that involves three core principles:

  1. Immersion in Nature: Our trips feature a complete immersion in nature. We believe this is the best way of connecting to ourselves and the natural environments around us.

  2. Adventure: We believe a great way to combat burnout is to incorporate adventure and physical activity over multiple days. This enables us to engage our bodies alongside our minds and ignite a true mind+body recalibration.

  3. Mindfulness: Your Recal Coach will be your guide for the mindfulness elements of the trip. We will practice guided breathwork, meditation, and possibly some yoga. There will also be time set aside for unguided mindfulness and self-discovery.

About Anthony

Anthony Lorubbio, the founder of Recal, is part of the new breed of purpose-driven, social entrepreneur.

He is a two-time founder, three-time CEO, and formerly burned out executive. At the beginning of 2021, amidst his own bout with burnout, Lorubbio took a pause, reconnected with his authentic self through breathwork, nature, and mindfulness practices, and founded Recal to help people that are facing a similar situation.

His winding path through the grind of modern life finally gave way to clarity when he was introduced to the concept of the Modern Human Condition. It explains that there is a disconnect between the way humans live in today’s modern world, versus how we biologically (over many years of evolution) adapted to live. This simple fact contributes to so many of the physical and mental ailments we face today, including chronic stress, anxiety, and burnout.

Under Lorubbio’s direction, Recal has designed guided, retreat-style trips that reconnect with nature and ourselves as humans. By utilizing these mindful and adventurous experiences in the outdoors, you are able to recalibrate your mind and body to better navigate modern life’s stressors and challenges.

Anthony’s Capstone Project

Description: My capstone project was based on creating a unique and transformative travel experience specifically for individuals who are burned out at work. The goal was to incorporate a blend of 1) nature, 2) mindfulness and breathwork practices, and 3) adventure as vessels for transformation. One of the principles we learned about in the course was the unique qualities of QUIET and how it can be utilized to achieve inner peace and quiet within our minds. The conversation with Gordon and Vikram proved very fruitful for me to learn about the challenges you face when leading people into 'quiet' environments.
