Jake's Weekly Flow #6

Weekly Flow #6 - February 10, 2023

Greetings, fellow seeker

Welcome to my weekly flow of news, events, insightful perspectives, and impactful stories aimed at creating positive change in your life and the lives you touch, at home and on the road. Before you scan, take a breath, tune in, open up to the flow, and find your glow.

  • So much confusion out there about the difference between sustainability and regenerative. Regeneration is the process that delivers sustainable living systems as the outcome of that process. Learn more: 8 Principles of Regenerative Economy

  • Podcast of the week: *Trigger Warning Discussing Police Brutality* Anuar Velazquez, Christin Farmer, and Martin Friedman come together in this new podcast to discuss the cycles of trauma that are self-perpetuating between police and communities of color.

  • The Sun is Alive, and Why that Matters, by Charles Eisenstein

  • The Quiet Power of Visiting a Place Again (and Again) - Traveling to new places is thrilling. A return visit can lead to an even deeper experience. By Anu Taranath

  • I’m in New Orleans for the 3rd of 4 sessions in the inaugural year of the Transformation Economy Collaborative. My friend, Chip Conley, was a guest speaker yesterday and he shared “How Great Companies Get Their Mojo From Maslow explains why relationships are the most valuable currency in both business and life.” If that calls to you, he digs in deep in this fantastic keynote.

  • I’m going to try to make it to this listening circle coming up next week. You're invited to join Pachamama Alliance for the next Resilience and Possibility conversation. “This conversation will delve into how spirit has supported resilience, non-demonization, and interdependence in the fight for justice. How can each of us better understand spirit as allies and participants in movements that build an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on the planet?” Past recordings.

  • Yale University’s most popular class is now free for teenagers—why it could make you happier, by Megan Sauer

The Transformational Travel Council is blessed to have an amazing Board of Directors, half of them are here at the Transformation Economy Collaborative session in New Orleans today. See the photo above! We enjoyed a delicious walking food tour last night in the French Quarter. A few of them are also helping us finalize our pitch deck as we’re about to start seeking out high-integrity impact investors and donors interested in supporting our work at the Council and The Transformational Travel Institute. In that deck, I have a slide of quotes and poetry hidden back in the appendix that is meant to capture the essence of who we are and the world we’re creating through a more conscious approach to travel.

This is my favorite …

Interrelationship
You are me, and I am you.
Isn’t it obvious that we “inter-are”? You cultivate the flower in yourself, so that I will be beautiful. I transform the garbage in myself, so that you will not have to suffer.
I support you; you support me.
I am in this world to offer you peace; you are in this world to bring me joy.
- Poem by Thich Nhat Hanh

Journey on good people,

Love.
